Wedding Location - choosing the perfect location for your wedding reception
A very practical approach
Your wedding dress, the music, the flowers and the food will all play a key role in setting the mood and atmosphere for your wedding. To this you must also add the wedding location.
There are many decisions to make when planning a wedding, but when it comes to the wedding location it is not unusual to find that the bride to be already knows exactly where she wants to celebrate her marriage.
If this is so, provided such factors as availability, price, seating capacity and the services available are all acceptable then it should be straightforward.
Seeking the perfect venue ....
If this is not the case here are two ways to go about choosing a suitable venue:
v a location where you have previously attended a wedding
v wedding locations that come highly recommended by trusted friends or relatives
The choice of venue may also be influenced by the wedding ceremony:
v Some couples will have the ceremony in a church followed by a reception at a hotel or catering hall
v others may wish to hold the ceremony outdoors but have the reception at an indoor location.
v Yet again some may choose to hold both the ceremony and the reception in the same place
Choosing the perfect wedding location for your special day may at times seem like an impossible task especially if you live in an area that has a number of options. Setting strict criteria for evaluating wedding locations can save you a lot of time and effort.
Once you have narrowed your choices down to a few options it is important to consider the additional factors such as price, seating capacity and services offered.
Price
If you find a location that you like but it is too expensive try to negotiate on the price – if you don’t ask you will never know!
Whether you are being charged a price per guest or a flat fee for the whole reception, if you simply cannot afford the location it is not right for your wedding. Fortunately most cities have a wide variety of options available so it is highly likely that you will find a suitable venue that is within your budget.
Seating Capacity
Selecting the wrong venue because of seating capacity can be a disaster. Choosing a venue that is either too small or too big is not acceptable because a venue that is too small will be cramped and your guests will be uncomfortable whilst a venue that is too big will not only be a waste of money because large spaces often include a minimum number of guests and you may wind up paying for more guests than you actually have but any chance you have of creating a little intimacy with your guests will be lost.
Services offered
The services that are offered may be another factor in choosing a wedding location. Many catering halls may also have staff available to provide entertainment or floral designs. If you find a facility that is capable of either delivering additional services or recommending excellent service providers you might want to consider choosing this venue to eliminate the amount of additional services you have to organize yourself. Consolidating in any way possible can greatly reduce the effort that is required of you to complete your wedding planning.
Whichever option you choose for your wedding it is important to ensure that the wedding location you choose has all of the elements that you were seeking in a wedding location such as ambiance, seating capacity, a dance floor or anything else that you want.
