Now both you and the Groom have so many important decisions to make and planning a wedding involves a lot of preparation and tasks to complete before your special day. Getting organized with planning your wedding

It need not be stressful. Carefully choose people you trust to help you and start your wedding planning. You will eventually have a detailed wedding plan worthy of ‘General Patton’ but at this stage start off by putting together a simple wedding timetable that will give you a quick overview and help you to plan ahead.

Prepare a short list of wedding-related activities and tasks, as well as a rough estimate of when the individual tasks need to be completed.

This will enable you to identify the key activities and tasks that you will have to explore in much more detail later. It will keep you organized, timely and give you space to consider how you will plan the very important parts of your big day.

These are merely our suggestions on planning a wedding to help you. Each and every couple will have their own preferences and priorities.

You may find the following suggestions and ideas helpful and some blatantly obvious, but you would be surprised how many very simple and obvious tasks get overlooked when planning a wedding, and then people get upset and stress raises its ugly head:

Planning a Wedding – your engagement

when planning a wedding you can’t keep all the information in your head so use an organizer and keep it handy. This will help you keep track of all the appointments, payments and other wedding-related activities that you must attend to.

many couples overlook an engagement photo. This will be a treasured keepsake of a wonderful occasion.

Planning a Wedding – between 6 to 12 months prior to your special day

As a couple you should have already picked and decided on a wedding date.

having selected the venue for the ceremony and reception secure the reservations.

set an appointment with the person performing the wedding ceremony.

agree a budget for the wedding, and try as much as possible to stick to it.

prepare a wedding guest list. You wouldn’t want to leave a friend or relative out unintentionally.

look around for a photographer, florists, musicians, and a caterer. Obtain estimates for these services. Personal recommendations from people you trust will go a long way to ensuring your day remains one to remember for the right reasons.

register at the bridal gift registry.

a pick wedding dress and accessories. If you are having a dress made for you this is the time to start making arrangements. Several fittings may be required.

choose your bridesmaids and set a date for ordering their dresses
