Wedding Trends 2012 – Wedding Dresses

Hooray – it’s time to look at a few wedding dress trends for 2012!

It’s an exciting time for wedding dress design as we move (only slightly) away from the classic strapless look and begin to embrace a wider choice of necklines including bateau, plunging v-necks, and asymmetric styles, especially single straps adorned with floral details. Long sleeved designs have increased in popularity since the royal wedding, and lace sections can add sophistication to a wedding dress without making it look too conservative.

Wedding dresses are becoming more structured, and the mermaid shape, where the skirt flares around the thighs or knees is a particularly flattering choice for 2012. Short skirts will also retain their popularity, and are accessorised with feathers, ruffles, and rhinestones.

As high-street wedding dress collections from stores such as Coast, Phase Eight at Debenhams, BHS, and Monsoon continue to expand, many brides are looking to pick up their wedding dress at a considerably less than the standard designer price tag. Now shipping around the world is cheap and easy, there is also an increase in ordering gowns from foreign stores, especially the iconic Bloomingdales
iconin the U.S. who now deliver to the UK and who stock an unbelievable range of affordable wedding dresses.

The fashions of previous decades continue to influence wedding dress design, and prom style fifties gowns will feature alongside seventies inspired bridal trouser suits. The craze for vintage inspired dresses is set to be an enduring one.
